A personal blog of essays and reflections on medicine, fatherhood, immigration, and storytelling.
I’m the kind of person who has an opinion about everything in life — and never shy away from expressing it, no matter how annoying it may be. This personality trait earned me the nickname “Yoda” (or maybe that’s just how I looked).
Then I had kids. They became the prime recipients of my advice, and I was ecstatic that they had a father who would impart unparalleled wisdom at each step of their lives. Unfortunately, as they’re growing up, they’ve realized the annoying potential of my opinions. Quite often, before I even finish speaking, they respond with a single line — “Did I ask?”
So, I decided to put my thoughts and opinions — what I like to call “intelligence for life” — in a blog. Whoever wants to read can hopefully appreciate it, while others are spared from my verbal rants.
What started as a personal hobby in 2020 is still going strong today, thanks to my readers and their ongoing encouragement and enthusiasm.
Farhan Imran, MD, is a medical oncologist with more than two decades of clinical experience. Originally from Pakistan, he trained at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and currently lives in Rochester, NY. Outside of medicine, he’s passionate about running marathons and telling stories. His blog, Did I Ask, has built a loyal readership, and his essays have appeared on KevinMD.com and in various Pakistani publications. At home, he navigates the challenges of parenthood alongside two cats — one of whom he admittedly doesn’t like.
This is his best picture.
